Anthony Walker Foundation Creates ‘Community As A Superpower’ Event
The Anthony Walker Foundation has created a day-long event taking place next week to help support Refugee Week sponsored by the acclaimed Liverpool property development firm Nicholson Group.
The Foundation based in Liverpool City Centre supports those seeking safety and refugee because it aligns with its mission as Rahana Bennett, Hate Crime Support and Community Engagement Worker explained:
“We exist to promote racial justice, equality, and a more inclusive society. Refugees often face discrimination, marginalization, and significant challenges as they rebuild their lives in a new country.
“By supporting them, the foundation helps to foster compassion, break down barriers of prejudice, and empower individuals to thrive in safe, welcoming communities, ultimately contributing to a fairer and more just society for all.
“The Foundation felt strongly that a daytime event initiative would help raise further awareness of the plight of refugees now living here and our work in supporting them. We’re really looking forward to it especially having had a really good response from the wider Liverpool community.
“We see and hear firsthand the pain and challenges faced by those new to the country who are targeted simply because of who they are. This event is about spreading a vital message: you are not alone. We are here to offer understanding, support, and a safe space for anyone affected by racial or religious hate crime.”
The Community as a Superpower event will take place on Wednesday, 18 June 2025, at the Fire Fit Hub in Toxteth, from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
Rahana added: “It’ll be a day to celebrate inclusion, belonging, and the incredible strength of our diverse communities — especially after a challenging year of unrest and continued struggles for those seeking safety and a fresh start. In the wake of last year’s riots, the message of unity is more vital than ever.
“This event aims to raise awareness, offer support, and give a warm welcome to those new to our community. We’re really grateful to the Nicholson Group for helping making this event a reality with their support.
“Similarly, fellow supporters Sahir House and Liverpool City Council have been equally brilliant too and on behalf of the community, we’re very grateful.”
Paul Nicholson CEO of Nicholson Group said: “Nicholson Group is proud to be sponsoring the Anthony Walker Foundation and their latest initiative as part of a wider remit – namely, supporting stronger, safer communities.
“Respect to the Foundation for all the great work they do throughout the year helping people who experience discrimination and the effect that can have on an individual’s mental well-being. No one should carry that weight alone.”
