YOU DON’T HAVE TO LOOK FAR IN LIVERPOOL TO FIND MAGICAL PEOPLE…
I was at Maxwell Hodge Solicitors and Jane Reid’s excellent networking gig recently and came across Gillian Watkins and Kevin Morland, two classically grounded Liverpudlians.
I recognised Kevin from the generosity of grocery emporium Matta’s on Bold Street a few years back when the latter gave a very kind donation to Gillian and Kevin’s charity An Hour for Others.
I sat with them both over a coffee at the Cotton Exchange and they shared a very moving story of how they came together professionally and personally.
I’ll share that with you soon.
The relationship culminated in the charity being established in 2014 with the aim of bringing business support to the community.
Just over ten years on, their progression is another great story and has recently resulted in the Liverpool-based organisation becoming the charity partner of QVC Group.
The strength of An Hour for Others can be measured by their social impact, having collaborated with 330 businesses in building better communities and inspiring positive change.
Like many Liverpudlians I know, they have incredible resilience, many stories of success through adversity at an extreme level and hearts of gold.
Gillian and Kevin richly deserve all their success to date with An Hour for Others.
You’d be gobsmacked to hear their stories but they’ve both got the kind of spirit that seems to be synonymous with the city.
People say it often about Liverpudlians, “there must be something in the water.”
Gillian, and Kevin – two people along with a growing team, spreading their magic across the city on a daily basis and all for the good of others.
