Seeing Liverpool recognised this month as one of the world’s leading Sustainable Cities made me think about how far our regional sustainability strategy has come in recent times.
It’s a remarkable milestone to be featured in the 2026 Oxford Economics Global Cities Index because not long ago, expert commentators were pointing out the big gaps in our regional sustainability strategy.
I’d say achieving this turnaround is down to collective ambition, targeted climate action, and forward-thinking urban regeneration.
From pioneering low-carbon infrastructure to driving inclusive growth and world-leading innovation, it genuinely feels like Liverpool is slowly proving that economic prosperity and environmental sustainability go hand in hand.
I’m curious to see how the city continues to build on this momentum of ranking in the global top 100 for environmental performance and how it can attract investment for a greener future.
Could be a good property panel event at some point in early 2027?
