MORE SCENES LESS SCREENS…

By Joel Jelen

I’ve spent August having a few UK mini-breaks which has included taking in my adopted home of Liverpool.

The power of just two or three days off can be huge.

I’ve come back off each break (I’m having another long one this weekend) feeling inspired with e.g. more event ideas to enable connecting new people with my business and community interests.

From experience, I’ve found that hobby-based meetups to meet new people are the way to go.

Pub quizzes, well-being socials, nature walks…all nothing new but each have a strong appeal for many generations.

Face to face fun and curiosity is a major part of the appetite for real-world, screen-free connection…almost like it’s become a new trend!

It’s already happening in business here too.

Check out the timelines of Liverpudlians Dawn Morris and Stephen Lucas and what they took to Manchester last night and the new ‘soft socialising’ connectivity they’re creating as a result for their LegaltechLive® members.

Then there’s the MOVE Business Club Scouse entrepreneurs 🧡🐘Andrea Edwards🐘🧡and Mark Waldron who began more than 6 years ago. Their weekly netwalking includes a Wednesday night meander around the waterfront, taking in its spectacular views. Many people just go for the social and chat about business at their other events.

An Hour for Others deliver face to face fun, connection and education to great effect in many communities across Merseyside too.

Parks, waterfronts, and dance floors have long been my favourite ways to connect.

I call it scenes not screens.

What’s the most unexpected place you’ve seen people connect lately?

DM or email me to find out more about forthcoming ‘soft-connecting’ events this late Summer/early Autumn.
